Who We Are

Friends was formed in 2003 and has grown from a humble beginning of five members to over sixty-five members. We hope to double that number in the next few years.

In 2007, Friends promoted the Walworth-Seely Public Library through use of the display case at the town hall, holding an Open House, and distributed new brochures throughout the community.

One of the most significant events for us in 2007 was when we obtained tax-exempt status by the IRS with a successful application for 501(c) (3) status. This means books, money and other items donated to our organization are tax deductible.

Friends participate in the parade and other activities at the Walworth Festival in the Park every year.

The Friends organization was active throughout the Walworth community in 2007, helping with the library’s summer ice cream social, providing refreshments for the Walworth Memories program, and attending town meetings and giving input into the future space issues in town. There were also two book and bake sales and Friends participated in the Festival in the Park in July. Watch for our float and look for our booth at Ginegaw Park during this annual celebration of life in Walworth this August.

book sales are for families!
Our book and bake sales have something for the whole family!

The Friends was organized in the spring of 2005 by a group of five people. That five has grown more than ten times over as word has spread of the good works of the Friends. We have held gift wrapping sales, a spaghetti dinner, a local author book signing, games at the Festival in the Park, and of course, our biggest fundraisers, the book and bake sales. In the fall of 2007 we participated in the Lincoln craft sale and sold many beautiful items hand made by our more talented Friends.

In the past we have paid for the movie license, have purchased materials for the gaming programs at the library and provided a hard drive for computer data storage. We offer refreshments at a variety of library sponsored programs throughout the year, including open houses, the Genealogy Lunch Bunch and the Walworth Memories. In 2008 we hope to update some of the activity boxes for the youngsters.

If you would like to join us in these good works, please print out a brochure and fill out the form on the back or e-mail us for more information. Donations can be made at any time to :
