How You Can Help |
|
Of course you can help the Friends of WSPL by becoming a Friend, but there is another way you can help without even leaving your chair at home. Goodsearch.com is an internet search engine powered by Yahoo which shares its profits with non-profit organizations. You can set it up on your computer as your default search engine. The web site Goodsearch.com will tell you how. Then type in “Walworth Friends” as the organization that you want to sponsor. The site will remember that you are sponsoring us. (For this to work, you must have your cookies enabled. And don’t forget to reset the Goodsearch site if you have to delete your cookies at any time.) Each time you do an internet search the site will pay us one penny. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but it will add up. If we have fifty people doing two searches a day we will have earned $365.00 by the end of the year. You search the internet anyway; make your searches work for us. Also the Goodsearch web site recently instituted on-line shopping for charities and if you shop on-line through the site, a portion of your purchase will be given to us. Recently a school district that shopped through the site for supplies wound up earning over $300.00 with that one purchase! Target and Amazon are just two on-line shopping experiences that participate. You can donate directly to the Friends, both money and goods. We collect GENTLY used books, tapes, cds and dvds for our book sales. (We ask that you hold donations until the Wednesday before a book sale due to storage constraints.) We do not assess value for book sale donations, nor do we count or provide a list of titles donated. A receipt will be provided for the donor to complete for tax deduction purposes. If you would like to help Friends, please use these guidelines with donations:
If you would like to donate things such
as paper plates, cups and napkins for times when we offer refreshments
for library programs, that would be appreciated. If you would like to
bake for the bake sales or help set up for the book sales, we are always
looking for willing hands. If you have a really great suggestion for
the Friends, please attend a meeting and bring forth your ideas. We
are always open to new ideas and are happy to see new faces. |
